‘Employability Den’ is an intensive one-day employability training experience, hosted by a local company, for a group of students who then compete individually for the prize of a work placement with the host company. Click here to see how Dentons UKMEA LLP hosted MK College students in 2017.
The training involves a series of sessions from Engage Me and Employ Me, intended to develop job application and interview skills, with a one-hour Career WorkOut in which students interview staff from the host company in a carousel of 6-minute conversations.
After the training, students opt to complete formal applications for a work experience placement with the host company. These are then short-listed for interviews at the company a few days later, with the placement itself taking place a few weeks later.
The learning process is highly interactive and has proven highly engaging for scores of students who have participated.
Companies are invited to host ‘Employability Den’, and supervise the prize work placement, as a way of attracting young people to their company or sector…maybe even recruiting them for employment.
