EVALUATION OF CAREER WORKOUT 2017-18 to date (11.12.17)

Students

Between September and December 2017, 1,844 students aged 11-18 participated in 51 Career WorkOut sessions and completed pre- and post-session questionnaires which showed:

  • 13.7% overall increase in “I am confident making choices about my future work options”
  • 17.9% overall increase in “I am confident talking to adults I don’t know”
  • 7.5% overall increase in “I am committed to learning and want to achieve”.

Work guests

Between September and December 2017, 347 volunteer work guests from 99 companies made a total of 471 guest appearances and completed 400 post-session questionnaires showing:

  • 99.0% agreed “I enjoyed the session”, of which 81.5% strongly agreed
  • 98.3% agreed “I felt valued”, of which 67.5% strongly agreed
  • 94.8% agreed “I now feel more positive about my work”, of which 50.0% strongly agreed.

Teachers

Between September and December 2017, 34 teachers from eight schools completed post-session questionnaires showing:

  • 100.0% agreed “The session helped students make choices about their future work options”, of which 38.2% strongly agreed
  • 94.1% agreed “The session helped students to develop their employability skills”, of which 44.1% strongly agreed
  • 97.1% agreed “The session was important for students’ preparation for the world of work”, of which 61.8% strongly agreed.
