Volunteers

Volunteer Charter

Our volunteers can expect to carry out their duties in safe, secure and healthy environments that are free from harassment, intimidation, bullying, violence and discrimination and to be protected by appropriate insurance cover (usually the school’s Public Liability Insurance).

Our Session Coordinator will provide support and supervision as requested.

Briefing for first-time Career WorkOut guests will normally take place during the few minutes before the start of a session, but volunteers can ask for an extended induction by contacting Worktree staff before the day of the session.

Volunteers are expected to take instruction or guidance from Worktree staff in respect of their volunteering input and when required, to give feedback.

Volunteers will not be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses.

Volunteers are expected to accept the organisation’s aims and objectives, and must respect and adhere to Worktree’s Safeguarding Policy.  This includes not touching students (except through a handshake), using inappropriate language, e.g. swearing,  or attempting to gain personal contact details.

Volunteers should declare any conflict of interest and not bring the organisation into disrepute either during or outside their volunteering activities.

Resolution to any problems or complaints between volunteers, young people, host institution staff and/or Worktree staff, should be addressed initially to a member of the Worktree team or, if not practical, the Chair of Trustees, Alan Bullen.
