Volunteers

Personal motivation

To be productive, employees need to feel personally fulfilled, engaged in their local community and valued by others.  But employers don’t always provide staff with access to suitably fulfilling volunteering opportunities.

Surveys say that what matters to employees’ motivation is more than just pay.  What employees say they want from work (in order) are:

  1. To be appreciated for work done
  2. Feeling “in” on things
  3. Sympathetic help on personal problems
  4. Job security
  5. Good wages
  6. Interesting work
  7. Promotion/growth opportunities.

One of the problems employers face is how to keep employees feeling interested, appreciated and growing – not bored, unnoticed and stagnant in their personal and professional development.
