Seema Patel of Network Rail attended her first Career WorkOut at Hazeley Academy last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
“I have worked for Network Rail for 3 years as an Access & Operational Planner,” she said. “I enjoy my job role and always proudly recommend Network Rail to my friends and family as a workplace. I strongly believe it’s a brilliant workplace and values all employees.
“The Career WorkOut sessions appealed to me as I have experienced myself and seen my children not knowing and feeling worried about what career/subject choices to take. I worked for Santander before my post at Network Rail and through job experiences, I realised I like communicating and like to support people. Therefore, I felt I would enjoy the Career WorkOut sessions and get satisfaction in helping students ease some of their worries.
“I attended a session at Hazeley Academy which is where my children studied. The sessions involved a ‘speed-dating’ style set up, where groups of 3-5 students had 6 minutes to ask me any questions about my career and then rotated round a number of workers. The questions ranged from what I studied in school, what my job interview was like, to my day-to-day duties and what subjects are needed for my job role.
“Young people are motivating as they are full of life and inspiring. Taking part in Career WorkOut made me realise how I value working for Network Rail and enjoy my job role.”
