4 out of 5 pupils in Luton school change job idea after Primary World of Work experience

Worktree staff facilitated an exciting Primary World of Work morning with 85 Year 5 pupils at Hillborough Primary School in Luton.  More than 20 guests from Luton companies attended, including Luton Council, Machins Solicitors LLP, Vauxhall, The Mall, Luton Town Football Club as well as construction firms Engine, Hone All.

The results were extremely positive.  More than four in five said after the activities that they had a new idea about a job they would like to do.  (Results below.)

David Bradshaw, Headteacher at Hillborough Primary School, said: “At Hillborough we want our children to leave the school with high aspirations and be aware of the opportunities that await them. The careers morning organised by Luton Council  and facilitated by Worktree was a resounding success with children being fully engaged.

“I was very proud by the way the children interacted with our guests from a number of industries from Luton and beyond and I thank them for giving up their time for the children of Hillborough.”

A pupil after participating in the Careers Day held at the school remarked: “After this morning I decided to work hard and dream big!”

Cllr Mahmood Hussain, Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People, said: “Raising aspirations and ensuring young people are prepared to take advantage of opportunities which are being created by the Luton Investment Framework is incredibly important. We want to give young people in Luton the best possible chance to succeed and Careers Days are perfect to highlight the opportunities available in Luton.”
