Sonya Byers, CEO of Women in Transport, recently volunteered in a Virtual Career WorkOut session with Year 8 students from St. Paul’s RC School.
“It was suggested to me by another volunteer, Gary Lincoln of TXM Group, who is very passionate about Worktree,” she said. “It seemed like a good way to help young people.”
“What surprised me was how easy it was to book into the session and be part of. I enjoyed the interaction with the kids and the way it was facilitated. It really was only 40 minutes. You don’t need to do anything special, just answer their questions. And it’s fascinating hearing about the other guests’ jobs!
“As well as being enjoyable, doing this is good for Women in Transport. There’s a job for everyone in transport. This is an easy way for us to tell young people about the different job opportunities.
“We’re looking at how we can increase the reach of Worktree’s work through a partnership with Heathrow Airport. Meanwhile, just do it (book a session at www.worktree.org/events . You’ll enjoy it!”
