In previous research we identified a 13% increase in school students’ employability skill rating by employers during two-week work placements which we organising back then (see Open University report, 2012).
Given our current focus on delivering Career WorkOut, we are interested in evaluating employment outcomes that can be attributed to this programme. For this we seek a research partner and/or funding.
Meanwhile we are collecting various data relating to outcomes perceived by students and volunteers immediately before/after participating in Career WorkOut. We have also sought to identify the factors which determine the meaningfulness of employer encounters – see Report, July 2018.
We hope ultimately to provide an evidence base for policy making in favour of schools’ systematic enabling of multiple, short conversations between students and guests from the world of work..
