Career WorkOut 2016-17


Between September 2016 and July 2017, 6,414 students aged 11-18 participated in 146 Career WorkOut sessions and 5,036 completed pre- and post-session questionnaires which showed:

  • 15.1% overall increase in “I am confident making choices about my future work options”
  • 20.6% overall increase in “I am confident talking to adults I don’t know”
  • 7.0% overall increase in “I am committed to learning and want to achieve”.

Work guests

From September 2016 to July 2017, 730 volunteer work guests from 232 companies made a total of 1,526 guest appearances and completed 1,199 post-session questionnaires showing:

  • 99.8% agreed “I enjoyed the session”, of which 77.0% strongly agreed
  • 99.7% agreed “I felt valued”, of which 69.7% strongly agreed
  • 97.2% agreed “I now feel more positive about my work”, of which 50.1% strongly agreed.


From September 2016 to July 2017, 58 teachers from eight schools completed post-session questionnaires showing:

  • 98.3% agreed “The session helped students make choices about their future work options”, of which 29.3% strongly agreed
  • 100% agreed “The session helped students to develop their employability skills”, of which 22.4% strongly agreed
  • 100% agreed “The session was important for students’ preparation for the world of work”, of which 48.3% strongly agreed.
