Catherine Suter, Aftersales Loyalty Manager of Volkswagen Group UK Ltd has taken part in a number of Virtual Career WorkOut sessions. Read on to find out why Catherine volunteers with Worktree.
“When I was at school, I never imagined that I would be working in automotive. Not because I didn’t find it exciting, I just didn’t know about the range of roles that existed or the skills needed to do those roles. That’s why it’s really important to me that young people have the opportunity to learn about the variety of careers out there so that they can make the best decisions on their next steps.
I did my first Worktree Virtual Career WorkOut session last year and have joined multiple sessions since. I really enjoy talking to the young people about my experiences, the exciting transformation we’re seeing in the automotive industry and answering their questions. It’s a really engaging way to support schools in the local community and the two way dialogue between volunteers and pupils means that I always leave the sessions having learnt something, be it about another industry or from one of the pupils’ questions. Getting involved in the Worktree sessions is something I recommend to my colleagues as a simple and enjoyable way to make a difference, so if you’re thinking about giving it a go get booked on!”.
