Worktree proudly announces the appointment of
Sarah Watt as our new Chair.
Following twelve years of transformative leadership, Alan Bullen has stepped down as Chair. Alan guided Worktree with unwavering dedication, elevating our organisation into a respected name in Youth Employability. His strategic vision expanded our community impact and strengthened young people’s futures.
“In the 12 exciting years that I’ve spent as Chair of Worktree, we’ve reached tens of thousands of young people and, hopefully, helped them make some great career decisions. Thank you to all the trustees that helped to make Worktree a significant force for good.”
I’m delighted to hand leadership to Sarah, whose vision and expertise make her ideal to guide Worktree’s next chapter. The foundation we’ve built provides a strong platform for continued growth and development, and more importantly – greater impact to our young people in the years ahead. And I am only too delighted to remain an ambassodor of Worktree.
Sarah Watt steps in as Chair with four years of valuable experience on our Trustee board. Her deep understanding of our mission and proven leadership abilities make her ideally positioned to drive Worktree’s continued growth and innovation.
Sarah gives thanks to Alan saying, “I want to begin by thanking Alan Bullen for his extraordinary years of service as Chair. Alan, your unwavering commitment, and guidance have been the cornerstone of Worktree’s growth and success.”

“I joined Worktree because I believe passionately in empowering young people to forge their own paths. Your career doesn’t have to follow someone else’s blueprint. You can change direction, adapt, and ultimately pursue what truly fulfils you.”
In a video message to stakeholders, Sarah shared her perspective on taking the helm: “I’m honoured to build on Alan’s strong foundation,” Sarah explains. “My connection with Worktree began during my first maternity leave. I would bring my baby daughter to Career WorkOut sessions, where she would sit on my lap as I engaged with students. Those early experiences showed me the profound impact of connecting young people with diverse professional role models”.
The transition takes effect immediately, with Alan continuing to serve as an ambassador for Worktree’s mission. Sarah continues “As I take on this new role, I’m excited to build on a legacy while bringing fresh perspectives to Worktree’s mission. Together, we’ll continue expanding our reach, deepening our impact, and preparing more young people for the ever-changing world of work”.
We extend our profound gratitude to Alan for his exceptional service and warmly welcome Sarah to her new role at the helm of Worktree.
